Ramanglass represents Michael Raman.

Michael Raman is always working to create new pieces of functional art that is elegant and durable for every day use. Currently he is  using the facilities of Dcglassworks to create his handmade glass.

Michael Raman started working with glass at age 11 with a technique called lampworking. Lampworking is the use of a controlled flame to melt glass rods and tubes to form unique glass objects. He learned how to lampwork at a Newark based studio called glassroots where he was taught by Rosita Walsh. Along with lampworking he learned how to fuse glass to make large, flat pieces of glass that were highly decorated, such as the piece to the right. In 2006 Glassroots opened its doors to the new “hotshop” which is a studio that uses blowpipes to handle large quantities of glass. Michael quickly learned the new techniques and began making hand blown pieces of glass.

But in 2008 Michael moved to Maryland with his family and began working glass at DCglassworks in Hyattsville Maryland. He now works with artists such as Joe Corcoran, Ed Donovan , and Michael Showalter, and is continuing to advance his technique and design.

Michael also works glass at home using his own torches and glass to create small figurines and jewelry.
